Thank you for your interest in applying for a grant from the Lancaster Foundation. We invite all applicants to first take our eligibility questionnaire to check if your project qualifies for funding. If you are able to meet the eligibility criteria then you will be given access to apply.  Please note, if you are eligible to apply this does not mean a guarantee of funding, rather we will look at your project application and contact you if we would like to discuss it further. Also, please be aware that we are NOT currently considering funding any further projects in Africa.

We appreciate it takes time to fill in a funding application as it does to process it our end. Therefore, please double check that the work that you are seeking funding for matches our grant eligibility criteria. The main reason we reject or don’t respond to applications is because they don’t meet our criteria.

Are you a UK registered charity?
Has your charity filed at least one set of annual accounts?
Does your project have a Christian ethos or alternatively is community focussed but local to Clitheroe (Lancashire)?
Does your project have a focus on the disadvantaged, vulnerable, and suffering across the UK / Internationally, or is Youth focussed? (Please note that we are NOT currently considering funding any further projects in Africa).
Is your project for buildings / capital costs?
Is your project for research?
Is your project for a festival, conference or fundraising event?
Does you project include running costs for a local church?
Has your project already taken place (i.e. an application for retro or shortfall funding)?
Has your project been funded by the Lancaster Foundation within the last 3 years?

Eligibility Criteria

We support the following:
  • Christian activities in the UK and internationally, through UK registered charities.
  • Community based projects focussed in the area of Clitheroe, Lancashire.
  • Christian projects which provide practical support to suffering, disadvantaged, and marginalized people throughout the UK and internationally.
  • Youth Projects which help young people to experience and grow in the Christian faith.
  • Your application must be for a new project which has not been funded by the Foundation in the last three years.
We do not support:
  • Building/capital projects – this includes renovation & restoration works, boilers, stained glass etc.
  • Non-UK registered charities.
  • Charities that do not have a Christian ethos / Christian ministry in their charitable objectives, with the exception of Community based projects focussed in the area of Clitheroe, Lancashire.
  • Church running costs.
  • Activities that have already taken place (i.e. retro/shortfall funding).
  • Research Projects.
  • Festivals, conferences or fundraising events.
  • Charities who have not yet filed at least one set of accounts with the Charity Commission.
